Changes and Fixes
Improved support for displaying the natural language of a localized application.
Improved support for displaying the natural language of system components like the Standard File Package (open/save dialogs), Edition Manager (publish/subscribe dialogs), Color Picker Manager, QuickDraw GX, and QuickTime.
Enhancements to the user interface of the Language Register that provide improved support for multiple file registration and non-Roman text.
Fixed a problem with the Language Kit Extension and the low-level disk switch and shutdown messages and system error notifications.
Fixed a problem that interfered with the synchronization of the Finder and the disk-based items of the System folder, which forced the Finder to “de-bless” the System folder and empty the Apple Menu.
Fixed a problem with deleting the LaserWriter 8 Preferences file and using the Page Setup or Print dialogs without first selecting a new printer from the Chooser.
Fixed a problem with updating an existing Language Kit Preferences file created by an older version of the Language Kit Extension.
Warnings and Limitations
* WARNING *
YOU MAY EXPERIENCE A PROBLEM DURING PRINTING WHEN A PRINT DIALOG BOX IS ABOUT TO BE DISPLAYED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AND BEING WORKED ON BY OUR ENGINEERING TEAM.
The Language Kit will not load under system software pre-installed on the Performa or PowerBook series with the Launcher control panel turned on. Users should either remove the Launcher control panel from the System folder or disable the control panel through the Extensions Manager to avoid this problem.
Microsoft Excel and Word may only be used with the fully localized version of the system software, even if you install one of the Language Kits. A possible fix for this problem is being evaluated for inclusion in the final release of the Korean Language Kit.
For older versions of the Claris applications, the Font menu may not display properly unless you hold the Option key down when selecting the menu.
You may experience problems using the Page Setup dialog with versions of the LaserWriter 8 printer driver earlier than the 8.2 release. To avoid these problems, try updating your system software to version 7.5.3 using System 7.5 Update 2.0 or using a later version of the LaserWriter printer driver.
There is a known problem with the hierarchical menus of the Apple menu which will be fixed in the final release of the Korean Language Kit. This problem is most apparent when the Korean Language Kit is installed on non-Roman system software.
The Extensions Manager control panel may not properly display the localized filenames of extensions, control panels, and other system additions, even though the proper font has been selected in the Views control panel. Additionally, applications and documents with localized filenames and servers with localized volume names may not be displayed correctly in other system menus like the Applications menu or the Recent Servers sub-menu of the Apple menu. This is a problem in the system software that will not be fixed for the Korean Language Kit.
There is a known problem with the Language Kit Additions files for QuickDraw GX in that they do not properly localize the Page Setup and Print dialog boxes. This will be fixed for the final release of the Korean Language Kit.
